- Stop buying DVDs.
- Change your home phone options. If you make most of your calls on your cell phone. Cancel call waiting on your home phone and don't make long distance calls on your home phone. Or, just cancel your home phone if you don't use it.
- Reduce your DirectTV or Cable bill. Do you really need 500 channels?
- Buy window fans and use them at night to cool your house instead of air conditioning.
- Buy gently used bikes, electric cars and other kid's toys at garage sales. Don't pay $300 for that electric car, they'll only drive it 10 times.
- Pack your lunch. You'll eat healthier and save money.
- Go to Costco with a girlfriend. You don't need 2 - 60oz ketchups. Split the packaged goods.
- Cancel your newspaper and get your news online.
- Make a family budget and stick to it.
- Borrow your neighbors tools before you go out and buy new ones. Just remember to return them.
- Put timers on your lights, especially in teen rooms and bathrooms so they turn off after 5 minutes.
- Use coupons and look for discounts online.
- Wash laundry with cold waer.
- Trade purses with your friends instead of buying a new one.
- Buy toys on sale and keep on hand for children's birthday parties.
- Buy children's clothing end of season on sale and plan ahead for summer/winter.
- Stop subscribing to magazines.
- Buy a used car and drive it longer
- Replace your light bulbs with compact fluorescent lights to use less energy.
- Close air vents in rooms you don't use.
- Get healthy and save money on prescriptions, food and doctor's bills.
- Don't buy extended warranties for small items. Spending $100 for a $250 item is crazy.
- Stop smoking and drinking.
- Stay married. 2 are stronger than one!
